Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be moving to a foreign country to live, let alone a country in the Middle East. Over the 2009 Christmas and New Year’s holidays, my husband Roger and I discussed what we wanted the next part of our life to be like. He thought that before retiring, he would like to do one more airport project but only if he could find something very interesting. I half-jokingly agreed that would be fine but could he try for an exotic location? As usual, Roger came through and soon we were headed to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This blog is a recap of our "leap-of- faith" wanderings around the Middle East and beyond. We joyfully share these expat experiences.

Boomer Blogging Carnival

daffodils 150x150 Boomers Carnival # 251
Winter has been sent packing, Spring is in the air and I am happy to be hosting this weeks Boomers Blog Carnival #251. Take a peek into the world of boomers, midlifers, travelers and foodies and see what life has in store for us across the globe.
After seeing the new film My Week with Marilyn, the Midlife Crisis Queen felt like writing about MARILYN: The saddest story of American celebrity.
This week, SoBabyBoomer discusses boomer retirement anxiety along with providing some retirement tips.
Even though it’s been incredibly spring-like, the Accidental Locavore knows we’re (sob) months away from great tomatoes. In the meantime, this slow-cooked tomato sauce is easy and delicious and there’s an added bonus! When you’re done, you’ve also got garlic confit.
Katie Foster at Arabian Tales had partook of tea on her visits to London and can’t say that she liked the tea or the treats. But, that was not the case at the recent High Tea and Jazz event to benefit The Flying Angel held at the British Embassy in Dubai.High Tea at the British Embassy.
Tom Sightings wants you to know that he’s hip; he’s cool; he’s right up on the next big thing. Okay, maybe not. But he nevertheless reports on the latest, hottest item coming out of the South by Southwest conference on music and technology, held this past weekend in Austin, Texas. Not that Sightings himself was there, but his son was. And so was 62-year-old Bruce Springsteen who gave the keynote speech.
And here at Midlife Musings, it has been a tough road these past few weeks where I have learned a valuable life lesson from a good friends untimely death.
