Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be moving to a foreign country to live, let alone a country in the Middle East. Over the 2009 Christmas and New Year’s holidays, my husband Roger and I discussed what we wanted the next part of our life to be like. He thought that before retiring, he would like to do one more airport project but only if he could find something very interesting. I half-jokingly agreed that would be fine but could he try for an exotic location? As usual, Roger came through and soon we were headed to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This blog is a recap of our "leap-of- faith" wanderings around the Middle East and beyond. We joyfully share these expat experiences.

BEST WISHES FOR A HAPPY AND PEACEFUL 2012

The music is “Tomorrow-Bokra,” an Arabic re-adaptation of Quincy Jones’ Grammy-award winning song entitled ‘Tomorrow (A Better You, A Better Me). Collaborating with Emirati social entrepreneur Badr Jafar,  Quincy produced this Arabic charity single involving 24 leading Arab Artists from 16 nations across the Middle East and North Africa singing with one voice for a better tomorrow.

Funds raised from the sale of “Tomorrow/Bokra" finance educational arts and culture scholarships and projects for children throughout the Middle East and North Africa. All proceeds generated will be placed in a dedicated Tomorrow/Bokra account under the Quincy Jones Foundation (http://qjfoundation.org)

“Tomorrow/Bokra” can be downloaded from ITunes.

  1. It's wonderful to meet you and to be able to share in your wonderful adventures in this way. I kook forward to seeing and learning more about the Middle East. Like Mark Twain said, travel is the best cure for prejudice. Happy New Year.

  2. This song has been circulating a lot among the Arabic speaking listeners. I heard it a while ago and fell in love with the lyrics, voices and the message. Fantastic to see the unity and this collaboration between Quincy Jones and these amazing Arab artists. Am a big fan of Kazem al Saher the Iraqi with the golden voice. Have a fantastic New 2012 Katie:)
