Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be moving to a foreign country to live, let alone a country in the Middle East. Over the 2009 Christmas and New Year’s holidays, my husband Roger and I discussed what we wanted the next part of our life to be like. He thought that before retiring, he would like to do one more airport project but only if he could find something very interesting. I half-jokingly agreed that would be fine but could he try for an exotic location? As usual, Roger came through and soon we were headed to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This blog is a recap of our "leap-of- faith" wanderings around the Middle East and beyond. We joyfully share these expat experiences.

Lucie at Midlife Musing remembers just how being Mom/Santa has its own lessons that are learned along the way.

Over at Contemporary Retirement, Ann has a tale about random acts of kindness in Kmart, of all places, and a thought provoker for those who celebrate Christmas to ponder.

Something's been bothering Tom Sightings lately. It's all the extra surcharges that seemed to have cropped up, anywhere and everywhere you buy something. Have you noticed them? For a look at what's really going on, click on "Just Tell Me the Real Price, Please!"

The Midlife Crisis Queen wants to know: Does raising federal taxes improve our economy or make it worse?  Paul Solman asks an economic historian to analyze this question to enlighten us all.

Adults are indulging in kids' foods, observes The Boomer Chronicles.

A pleasant afternoon at the Meydan Horse Race Track in Dubai turns into an Amazing Race. Arabian Tales and Other Amazing Adventures
